Individual attention and high expectations stand as the cornerstone of Batesville's successful public and private school systems.
The Primary School houses kindergarten through 3rd grade; Intermediate School covers 4rth and 5th grades; Middle School is 6th through 8th grade; and the High School is grades 9 through 12. The schools within the Batesville School Corporation are all accredited from the state as "Four Star" schools. Curriculum is demanding at each school, which prepares students for the next level. Each school provides their students with many opportunities to excell daily as well as many after school activites that challenge them even more. The high school offers several levels of diplomas; for those who excell, they offer an Academic Honors Diploma. This particular diploma requires much more advanced courses such as fine arts, foreign lanquages and eight credits in math. Batesville has a great record of graduating students that move on to complete their college education.
Batesville families are also given the opportunity to provide a private education by sending their children to St. Louis, which offers kindergarten through eighth grade. St. Louis is also highly respected in the community for its emphasis on building faith and knowledge together. For those families that would like their children to continue into grades nine through twelve in a parochial environment, they may choose Oldeburg Academy (located five mnutes from Batesville). Established in 1852, the Academy prides itself on the rich tradtion of providing excellence and teaching moral values to students from all economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
