 Education

Individual attention and high expectations stand as the cornerstone of Batesville's successful public and private school systems.

The Primary School houses kindergarten through 3rd grade; Intermediate School covers 4rth and 5th grades; Middle School is 6th through 8th grade; and the High School is  grades 9 through 12.  The schools within the Batesville School Corporation are all accredited from the state as "Four Star" schools.  Curriculum is demanding at each school, which prepares students for the next level. Each school provides their students with many opportunities to excell daily as well as many after school activites that challenge them even more. The high school offers several levels of diplomas; for those who excell, they offer an Academic Honors Diploma. This particular diploma requires much more advanced courses such as fine arts, foreign lanquages and eight credits in math. Batesville has a great record of graduating students that move on to complete their college education.

Batesville families are also given the opportunity to provide a private education by sending their children to St. Louis, which offers kindergarten through eighth grade.  St. Louis is also highly respected in the community for its emphasis on building faith and knowledge together.  For those families that would like their children to continue into grades nine through twelve in a parochial environment, they may choose Oldeburg Academy (located five mnutes from Batesville). Established in 1852, the Academy prides itself on the rich tradtion of providing excellence and teaching moral values to students from all economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

---------Main Street Survey----------

Dear Batesville Community Member,

A group of citizens have recently come together to form the Batesville Main Street Board. Our Board’s goal is to help Batesville become more economically successful while still maintaining our small-town feel with a beautiful and vibrant downtown that attracts both visitors and current residents.

In a few weeks the board will be meeting to develop a strategic plan with specific work plans for each Main Street Committee: Organizational; Promotion; Design & Planning; and Economic Restructuring. We have already gathered data and information from previous workgroups the city has assembled. We also want input from community members like you as we develop these work plans. Please take a few moments to complete our survey. If you would like to be involved with this catalytic team of people that are committed to Batesville’s future, please leave your e-mail in the space provided in the survey.

Click on the link above to complete your survey.

Only one survey per computer can be completed so if the link does not take you to the survey, someone else may have submitted the survey on that computer. If you need a paper copy of the survey, please contact Trish Hunter at 933-5265 or e-mail at trish.hunter@mmch.org.

Results of the survey will be shared after the strategic planning meeting is held in mid-August.

Thank you for your time and commitment to our community.

Sincerely,

Batesville Main Street Board Members
